Bathroom Organization Hacks: 5 You Need Right Now

Bathrooms can become bottomless black holes filled with stuff.   You have no idea how your bathroom got this bad!  These bathroom organization hacks will help you get the order and prettiness that you crave – but feel you can never attain.

Oh… YOU are going to get it!

Stumped on what to do with bathroom storage? This organization ideas are so easy and life-changing! Seriously, coming from a chronically disorganized person!

Our lives are filled with stuff!  We desperately need organization hacks to function.

Growing up, I remember once I tried to declutter my own bathroom.  I opened up a cabinet and found it stuffed with hair products from the early 80’s, gels, first aid supplies, band-aids that lost their stick… you name it.  How would I organize this bathroom cabinet under the sink?

I wanted to toss it all.  But, my dad said no.  “You never know when you might need it,” he said.

Where that sentiment helped people a lot during the depression or war time, right now it creates this stressful condition of overabundance.  We want bigger houses to fill with stuff.  We fill storage spaces with more stuff.

And then, we can’t find anything when we need it.

Why?  Because it’s impossible to organize a useless pile of junk.

There… I said it.  Because, that’s what it is.  But, it’s not your fault.  You never intended to accumulate all these supplies.  They simply piled up.  You put them in a drawer, out of sight, but now the drawer or cabinet or entire medicine cabinet is full.  Time for a few bathroom organization hacks!

Let’s get rid of what we no longer need and create a system to stay organized in the future.

#1 Toilet paper bathroom organization hacks

How does toilet paper help in decluttering?  Well, how many times are you the one who has to change the roll?  A lot, right?

That’s because your toilet paper is tucked out sight, probably under the sink like I had mine here.

I have two solutions for that.  First, head to Walmart and pick up the Cottonelle Mega Roll like we did. Bigger roll means less changing it.  1 mega roll equals 4 regular rolls.  I have an Ibotta rebate for you right here!

Second, get a toilet paper holder for right next to the toilet to store extra rolls.  This cheap storage solution solves the issue of never running out of toilet paper. Restocking this holder is a great job for kids, too!

When you have kids, sometimes the last thing you want to do is go to the grocery store.  Walmart also has convenient grocery pickup.  You order online, drive to Walmart, call them from your car and they bring it out to you!  Find if your area has it HERE.

Now that you have a plan for your toilet paper, bring on the rest of the bathroom organization hacks.

#2 Basket for all hair supplies

Truth time.. this is how I used to keep my hair supplies.

I know… it’s bad.  But I didn’t know an easier way to organize my bathroom cabinet under the sink!  I thought this was how it had to be.  Until, I realized two things:

  1. I use the hair supplies every day.  Taking each one out individually and putting them back carefully takes time.
  2. I don’t use anything else in there except the hair supplies.

Simple solution: toss everything I haven’t used in the past 3 months and get a pretty basket for the hair supplies.  Super easy and inexpensive DIY.

#3 Makeup organizer

Makeup is tough to keep clutter-free.  There are so many great colors and products.  It can be incredibly hard to find what you are looking for.

Seriously, for me, I dug through eyeshadows, foundations, broken blush brushes every morning, just to find a eyeliner.

No more!

Separate out the makeup items that you use most frequently and invest in a hanging makeup organizer.  Not only will all your important items be right at hand, but it will also be incredibly easy to pack for travel.

#4 Drawer Organizer

My drawer before:

Now, you may say that there is already an organizer in there.  But there are two things wrong with this setup:

  1. The organizer doesn’t fill in the entire drawer.  It allows for too much “I’ll-just-tuck-this-away-in-here” space.
  2. It moves around – allowing all the contents to get shuffled with each drawer open.

To solve this, I got a larger organizer with 3 compartments.  Each compartment gets a function.  In my case its,

  • Hair ties
  • grooming tools
  • extra makeup I don’t use on a daily basis\

I gave my bottom drawer the other plastic compartment which I now use for all my eye care stuff.  When I take my contacts out at night or in the morning, I’ll pull this one container out of the drawer.

The extra space stows a bag full of nail polish as well as bobby pins and hair brush stashed to the side.  Nothing else.

#5 Shower Caddy

Instead of stashing shampoo and conditioner on the floor of the shower, buy an over the nozzle shower caddy.

Keep only supplies you use on a daily basis in it. This means:

  • shampoo
  • conditioner
  • razor
  • soap

Go from complete bathroom chaos to an organized bathing space with these 5 bathroom organization hacks.  By only keeping items you need and then designating places – crates, baskets, caddys – for those items, you will no longer be wasting time searching for a product you need.

And remember these three action items to make your bathroom organizing (and life) easier:
