Podcast Episode 245: Busting the Myth of Spending One-On-One Time With EVERY Kid

We’ve got a long list of to-dos as parents. That’s a given, but we’re going to push back against a common item on that list that can cause a LOT of unnecessary stress for parents… ensuring that each and every child gets at least 15 minutes of one-on-one time every day with each parent.

Ummmm…no.

There’s a pervasive belief that spending equal one-on-one time with each child is the gold standard of parenting. However, this notion overlooks the unique dynamics of each family and the diverse needs of children. Moreover, it can lead to feelings of guilt, stress, and inadequacy for parents who struggle to meet this unrealistic expectation.

Instead of fixating on individualized attention for each child every day, focus on quality over quantity. In this podcast episode we share what IS possible AND beneficial to your children: spending authentic, quality time together, making space to play (especially for Mamas with little ones), and encouraging spending with both parents.

In this episode of the No Guilt Mom podcast you’ll learn:

  • Common misconceptions about spending one-on-one time with all your kids
  • Ways you can spend meaningful time with your kids that will create a positive relationship and memorable experiences
  • How to set boundaries with your time spent with kids to take care of yourself, get the rest you need to be the best parent you can be, and model healthy behavior for your kids
  • How to ditch the guilt of not spending enough time with each of your kids
