It took me by surprise.
My daughter was in first grade at the time. She had just started to read books longer than simple sight word readers.
As she struggled through a particularly difficult part, her eyes filled with tears and she threw the book down.
“I CAN’T DO IT! I’M NEVER GOING TO READ!”
She ran to the couch and buried her head in the cushions,
“Sweetie! It’s OK”
“NO! I’m just not good at it. I can’t do it. I’m stupid.”
Oh, you know how that makes your heart sink as a parent.
And she refused to try. I asked her to look at it again and she wouldn’t.
I read every one of your posts so other things I’d love to read more about (if you want to know):
1. not comparing the milestones of my developmentally delayed child to other children and being happy and content with what our life looks like.
2. I need ideas of easy crock pot meals. I know there are tons of pinterest ideas but I need some that people have tried and love.
3. How to provide things for my 4 year old to do BY HERSELF that doesn’t require ,my constant supervision (anything with markers is out!)
4. Tips for keeping my house clean, small daily ideas or ways to clean efficiently so I don’t feel like I’m constantly cleaning. My life now: cleaning our house is like brushing your teeth while eating oreos)
5. Ideas for quick make up that looks great. I mean like 5 minutes.
6. Date night ideas that are cheap!! PLEASE! Now that we have a respite sitter, my hubby and I can actually go out but we are broke 🙂
Jo- thanks for your dedication to this blog. I know you do it for you because you love it but so do many other people!
Love these ideas Leah! I can help with 2-6. However, I think I need you to guest post #1 if you are willing 🙂
