Cherry Chocolate Almond Granola Bars

Disclosure- I'm proud to partner with Cvs-pharmacyCherries and chocolate are one of the best flavor combinations ever!  Combine those flavors in this easy granola bar recipe that is perfect for kid’s lunches or as an after-school snack.  Or just save it all for yourself!Chocolate-Cherry-Almond-Granola-bars

Homemade granola is the best tasting granola!  No store variety can match the freshness or reproduce those fresh from the oven scents.

The Cherry Vanilla Almond Crunch from the CVS Gold Emblem Abound line is one of my favorite treats.  They are sweet, salty, and crunchy.  The crunch of the glazed almond pairs perfectly with the dried tart cherries.  As soon as I tasted them, I knew that I needed to create a recipe specifically devoted to these tantalizing snacks.

Ingredientsgranola-ingredients

  • 2 bags of CVS Gold Emblem Abound Cherry Vanilla Almond Crunch
  • 1 container CVS Gold Emblem Abound Steel Cut Oats
  • 6 TBS unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 6 oz dark chocolate

How To

This recipe is as simple as it is delicious!  Simply preheat the oven and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Stir together the steel cut oats and Cherry Vanilla Almond Crunch.cherry-almond-oats

Then melt together the honey and butter over low heat on the stove top.stirring-honey

Once melted, remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla and salt.Adding-vanilla-salt

Combine the honey butter with the granola and stir until combined.Adding-honey-granola

Add the chopped chocolate and mix until just incorporated.chocolate-granola

Spread the mixture evenly on the prepared baking sheet.granola-tray

Bake in the oven for 75 minutes.  Indulge in all the wonderful smells.

When you remove it from the oven, let it cool completely before removing it from the pan.  I gave my granola at least a hour of cooling time.  Then, I broke it apart into tasty little bars.

These crumble in your mouth as soon as you take a bite.  Every mouthful is this array of salty, sweet, crunchy and tart.  Not only was I a fan of them, but my kids were too.Kids-eating-granola-bars

They devoured granola bar after granola bar before I had to pull the tupperware container away.  I placed the bars on top of the counter.  My son didn’t realize this meant no more so he took his stool over to the counter, climbed on top and attempted to help himself to more granola bars.

The granola is now safely stored on top of our fridge.

This recipe is so easy, makes a ton of snacks and is filled with delicious, whole ingredients.  Try making a batch of these and you will have a hard time enjoying store bought granola bars again.  These are simply in a different league.
