DoThis To Snap Out Of Your Tired Mom Funk Today!

It’s easy to get lost in motherhood.

There are endless books to read, gadgets to buy, places to go and activities to do. So much that you forget what you read, bought, visited and did before that tiny, beautiful creature entered your life. You go from being Kate or Lindsay to being “Piper’s mommy” or “Brady’s mom.”

And, even though parenthood changes you in some of the most amazing ways, the you that existed before is still there. You still have desires, needs, dreams and preferences. You still need certain things to be the best version of yourself and yes, those things have absolutely nothing to do with your children.

If you don’t make your own health, happiness, and wellbeing a priority, then it’s pretty hard to be the mom I know you want to be.

So, let’s all agree that the absolute best thing we can do for our children and families is to fill our own tank!

3 Rules for Buying Clothes

Shopping. Shouldn’t there be rules for buying clothes?

Because here’s the thing about shopping for clothes, it can really go up or down. Am I happy with the weight I’m at? Then shopping is a knockout-good time. Don’t know what I’m looking for? Well, then we get into the gray territory.

When I don’t know what I want, I tend to buy anything. I’ll fall for all the latest trends, regardless if I’m really in love with them or if they even fit in my current wardrobe. Then, a week later, I’ll have major shopping regret when I find that not only does the garment not really fit me but it doesn’t go with anything else in my closet.

So, how can you tell if you should actually buy the clothes you like?

Are you Wearing the Right Bra?

Are you Wearing the Right Bra?

You’ve heard from countless style mavens, “make sure you wear a bra that fits,” but how exactly are you supposed to tell if you are wearing the right bra?

All you know is you have underwear – maybe its a little loose or possibly digging into your side. But, a bra is a bra, right? If the fit is a little off, no big deal.

Actually, you would be surprised. A proper fitting bra can make your entire world sing. It can change the shape of your body in your tops. It can solve world hunger.

No, it can’t do that. But, you get where I’m going here.

How can we check if we are wearing the correct bra?

How much do you love clothes but detest shopping?

Me!! I hate shopping. Mainly because I can never make up my mind. Faced with too many decisions, my brain simply shuts down.

Plus, throw in shopping with kids and it’s pretty much impossible to keep my brain focused enough to make any choice – nonetheless one that has a financial obligation.

So what are the options?

How happy do your kids get when they receive something in the mail?

They jump up and down, right? They squeal. You can feel and hold their excitement because it is so evident. So joyful.

Every time I get the mail, my daughter asks me if her Highlights magazine is there. When in it is, she gets so excited! She starts tearing through it immediately the second that I hand it to her.

Do you ever wish you could have that same feeling when you get mail?

That is exactly how I feel when I get a FabFitFun box!

Babies ruin bodies. At least, that’s what I thought before I was pregnant. When I first told my co-workers of my pregnancy, amid the cheers of “Congratulations” was the quiet remark, “your body will never quite be the same again.”

And it’s true. You might have stretch marks, varicose veins, extra weight… or maybe something else. But we shouldn’t be ashamed of it. We should celebrate it.

I Feel Like A Bad Mom

“I’m the worst mom”

I’ve told myself this more than once.

Yesterday, I was on the phone with my mom.

On the road to a Girl Scout leader’s meeting, I complained to her about a fight I had earlier in the day when I said, “I just feel like I’m failing all the time.”

“No,” my mom told me, “You’re not failing all the time. Look how much you do.”

Winter Small Wardrobe Essentials

Winter Small Wardrobe Essentials

When you have kids and are a professional, you need a winter small wardrobe that does double duty.

I used to get really stressed out at the thought of everything I had to buy to straddle these two lives. I want to look professional in my work, but I also don’t want to look like a bum on the weekends.

What to do?

You make sure you have these in your closet.

Mild Ulcerative Colitis Stories

No one wants to talk about embarrassing health issues. I’ve put off writing this post for so long, because it’s well… uncomfortable to talk about in SO many ways.

But, when I had all these symptoms, I lay in bed while my husband and kids slept, looking for posts like this on my phone. And I couldn’t find anything that addressed it.

So here goes… and as a heads up, yup, I’m going to talk about poop.
