Podcast Episode 325: From Ball Sacks to Boundaries: Reclaiming the Holidays
The holidays are here, and with them come a sleigh-load of overwhelming expectations. From elaborate traditions to endless gift-giving, it’s easy to feel like you’re on a never-ending treadmill of “doing it all.” But guess what? You don’t have to. It’s okay to say NO during the holidays. Whether it’s skipping the Elf on the Shelf antics or dialing back on that Pinterest-perfect tree, you have permission to ditch what doesn’t bring joy.
Traditions should serve you, not the other way around.
Letting go of perfectionism is the real holiday magic. When we stop trying to make every moment picture-perfect, we actually create space for more laughter, connection, and those little surprises that make the season special. It’s time to prioritize what matters most—whether that’s more time with your kids or simply enjoying a hot cup of cocoa while it’s still hot. And yes, breaking a tradition or two won’t ruin the holidays. It might just make them better!
And let’s talk self-care. The holidays shouldn’t leave you exhausted and resentful. Prioritizing your well-being is not selfish—it’s essential. When you take care of yourself, you bring more calm and joy to the season for everyone else, too. So, this year, let’s make the holidays about what you need, not just what everyone else expects.
Trust me, a little less guilt and a lot more boundaries are the ultimate gifts you can give yourself!
